The following are questions most frequently asked of Alan. If there is
something else you wish to ask please use the feedback page or one of the Email
links and Alan will reply as soon as possible.
How do I view my proofs
Images from weddings are viewed online in password-protected galleries. Alan will
hand out access details to guest, normally as they sit for the wedding
breakfast.
If any guests do not wish their images (or those of their children) to appear
online, then this is the time to mention it. Alan will happily honour their
wishes, though this is quite rare.
How long have you been a photographer?
Alan has been a professional wedding
photographer for 20 years. He is happy to provide his studio address and home telephone number on
the front page of his website.
How many pictures would you take at my wedding?
We never promise an exact figure because each
wedding is different, and the coverage is matched to your needs. We aim to take
as many pictures as is reasonably practical on the day, without taking over the
event. Quality is seen as a most important measure.
Typically a summer wedding with a hundred guests may
result in two to three hundred being taken. We have never taken eight hundred at
a wedding and frown upon those who feel the need to do so in order to supply
sufficient high quality images.
If you let Alan know the venue, time of year and
estimated number of guests he will give you an approximation.
How many formals do you take, and does it take long?
Normally it is important to take a few formal
groups. Typically around a 8-10
groups might be needed at a full wedding - strangely it is better to have this
planned early on so it can be covered in a matter of twenty minutes or so,
leaving everyone free to enjoy the rest of the day.
How long do you stay on the day?
Normally starting at bridal preparation if this is
practical. For the core package cover ends at the start of the
wedding breakfast, but can be extended for a modest fee. For Designer and
Classic Storybook packages Alan normally returns for the first dance
/ candid shots of the evening.
Do you expect a meal?
For local weddings the answer is generally
"no" .
For distant weddings (say 20 miles or so) where cover
extends to first dance/evening informals, Alan requests that at least a main
course is served, in a separate area from the main wedding breakfast, while he
downloads images taken so far. The day can be hectic, the equipment quite heavy,
and you would not want your photographer "falling down on the job".
What is included in the price?
1. A meeting about two weeks before the wedding to run
through your requirements and plans.
2. Attendance and coverage on the day.
3. A web gallery of all the images so your distant friends and relatives can
view and order without having to travel.
4. Any further meetings that may be required to help decide on the final
album choice and layout.
5. The final finished boxed album.
6. Ongoing support with reprint, additional albums and framing options.
7. After final payment and delivery of the finished album, Alan supplies
discs of the original images to the client.
We're interested but worried about being "sold-to"?
Don't worry! Feel free to arrange to visit the studio, look through
lots of samples, discuss your requirements, ask as many questions as you like,
then leave for a coffee while you think about it!
Of course sometimes it is clear that you are really happy
with the pictures, packages and prices, in which case Alan will be able to
"book" you at the time if you make it clear that you wish to do so.
I've got some more questions. What's the best way to contact Alan?
At the end of the day there is nothing like meeting face to
face, but early questions can often be answered by Email. Please use the link
